So first things first, I am looking to transition slowly to eating 80-85% raw for the next four weeks. Currently I am undecided as to whether or not I will transition into vegetarianism or veganism (as I am helplessly addicted to cheese!). And I am looking to chronicle my journey here.I'll be sure to post progress photos along the way. After that point, I will reevaluate and see where I feel my body is urging me to go with my diet.
My initial interest with raw foodism came about when I ran across the book "Eating in the Raw"- by Carol Alt while digging around at Half-Price Books. I'll admit, I had no clue who she was, being just 18, she was just slightly before my time. All I knew was that the lady on the cover looked gorgeous and vibrant. Her skin was luminous and she looked energized (later I came to find out that the cover photo had not been airbrushed at all!). I purchased the book and asked my mom who Carol Alt was- a supermodel who's now in her 40's. I couldn't believe it. Her skin and body were that of someone in their twenties.
Upon reading the book, Alt detailed how much more energy she had after begining to transition to raw food, and thus inspired me look at additional resources. I voraciously scoured websites and bookstores for any reading materials I could find (most of which are in the Resources and Products section). The transformations I saw were amazing. Check out some of the before/after pictures out there- absolutely shocking!
Now that I feel better informed, I feel that I am ready to start. Day 1 starts tomorrow, and I am ready to go. Tonight before bed, I'm going to work out a skeleton of a plan and a shopping list, and probably reread Eating in the Raw for the 50th time. I hope you'll travel this road with me, or at least tag along for the ride.
