Start the day off with a cup of hot water with lemon, as lemons contain pectin, a fiber that fights hunger. This will be useful as your caloric intake will be naturally lowered. For breakfast have fresh juice from fiborous fruit and vegetables, being sure to include greens. This will start the process of cleansing as it moves waste and toxins from your body. Throughout the day, drink plenty of water and hot green tea. For lunch, a primarily vegetable-based juice is tasty and satisfying, and again aids in the cleansing process. Dinner is a warm bowl of miso soup. Miso, or fermented soy, has many benefits which could be covered in a completely different post, but for the purposes of this cleanse just know that it aids in digestion. Repeat the next day.
Weekends tend to be ideal for a liquid fast as generally there are fewer set commitments, think work and school, but I understand that the general population never slows down, so working in the time for a solely liquid fast may take some pre-planning. You need to set aside time for light activity, such as yoga or walking, and time for relaxation to deal with the side-effects of detox. As toxins are being released from your body you may experience headaches, diarrhea, irritability, and dizziness. These are normal (but if they persist you will want to contact your family physician, and be sure to clear this detox with him/her first) and are a sign that your body is eliminating waste. But trust me the way your body feels post-detox is completely worth it!
Keep an eye out as I'll post some beauty-related detox practices and benefits later this evening!
